Water bar

“Clear sources” and mountainous landscapes are united in Mélodia Semichon’s hotel bar design. As a freelance interior designer, she works closely with the founders of Scalaa architects, Isabelle Castelli and Anne-Laure Gimenez. And her bar transports us into an inner space which reflects what’s outside.

“Whether at the entrance to a spa area or as a waiting area in a holiday hotel: the Water Bar promises the holistic pleasure of pure water which is provided in bottles from the backlit niches, recessed into the wall background featuring ceramic images. The focus is on the fascinating and fully-tiled bar. A small, illuminated cascade falls from the side of the sink unit. As if randomly detached from the overall unit, dark tiles make for highlights on the floor in front of the bar. And to ensure that the impression of stone can be experienced tangibly, the bar features deep anthracite tiles from the Emotion series – in the exact tile formats. A medium grey rock composition on the wall frames the water as a design source – which is in turn entirely framed by wall tiles in a lighter shade of grey, while the diagonal joins ensure smooth transitions between both sets of tiles.”
