Industrial Style reinterpreted District: faceted* tiles of Agrob Buchtal

The collection District was inspired by the typical tile claddings of the Metro stations in big cities such as Paris or London. The special features of this so-called “Metro tile” are glossy glazes and bevelled edges on all sides in order to create reflections in this way, which improved the poor lighting conditions in most of the underground stations at that time. This filigree and yet distinctive type of tiles has always been and still is very popular among Industrial Style enthusiasts. Agrob Buchtal now interprets this subject in a contemporary manner with modern formats and colours. The new wall tile series has been developed for expressive wall designs in public areas. Its characteristics: clear, rectangular and faceted*.

The reinterpretation of the “Metro tile” has resulted in a more elegant look of the normally very sober Industrial Style. Using traditional references and historical fundamentals as sources of inspiration, a well-balanced variety has been created. Precisely defined shades with great depth permit both striking and discreet solutions. With District in the particularly filigree format of 5x10 centimetres, even smaller surfaces become visual highlights and eye-catchers, while the format of 10 x 25 centimetres is rather predestined for generous areas. Easy laying is also guaranteed in the case of the smaller variant of the District tile, because it is thermoplastically glued on back on convenient pre-fabricated sheets of 31.6 x 31.6 centimetres already at the factory. The whole collection can also be used under water (swimming pools, whirlpools) or in permanently wet zones such as, for example, showers. Even the creative design of outdoor areas is possible with it, because District is made of glazed stoneware and thus frost-proof.

Urban flair for diverse areas of application
The new Agrob Buchtal collection District is a pure wall tile series and represents a new, almost charming type of Industrial Style. It has been developed for exclusive architectural solutions in public areas, as they are to be found, for example, in shop design or in stylish bars for the accentuation of vertical surfaces. Other areas of application are bakeries, office buildings, sanitary rooms, canteens, decorative walls or foyers. District generates a quite distinct urban flair with a discreet rhythm, while always retaining its unobtrusive character. Thus, depending on the choice of colour and the environment, noble, minimalist or also “comfortable and appealing“ wall designs with sophisticated gloss effects can be created, which, depending on the incidence of light and one’s position, are varying. The attractive colour range comprises eight shades: from deep black, red and green to neutral white, grey and blue to soft beige and mint.

Innovative coating “HT”
District is provided with the HT (“Hydrophilic Tile“) coating already ex factory. This innovative solution is based on the effect of light and lends ceramic tiles revolutionary characteristics: they are extremely easy to clean, have an antibacterial effect without using chemical products and eliminate unwelcome odours as well as air pollutants. Thus, HT saves time and money and contributes to environmental protection thanks to the considerably reduced use of cleaning agents and disinfectants.
