A Taste of the Sea at the Pool
The Büsumer Meerzeit is a öpublic swimming pool with a fantastic view of the beach and the North Sea, as well as an oasis of peace and relaxation featuring saunas and massages right on Büsum’s main beach.
The Piratenmeer water park, built in the 1960s, closed on July 1, 2019, for a comprehensive renovation. Following the renovation, the swimming pool shines in a new, bright, and modern design. It is also now nearly barrier-free. Thanks to an extension of the outdoor area, visitors can look directly out onto the North Sea from the whirlpools. A loggia was added to the pool’s relaxation area, allowing guests to enjoy the sun in the fresh air. The municipal administration had decided to hold an architectural competition, from which the architectural firm Janßen Bär Partnerschaft mbb from Bad Zwischenahn emerged as the winner. The reopening took place on February 28, 2022.
The swimming pool features saltwater, waves, and a view of the sea. The sauna area, on the other hand, promises peace and relaxation. The rooftop terrace, expanded to over 450 m² with a view of the North Sea, delights visitors with a new panoramic sauna and whirlpool. The massage area is spacious and accessible from both the pool and the outside. The elevator ensures guests have barrier-free access to all floors—including the rooftop terrace!
The shower and changing area is kept light thanks to the Valley series in pebble gray, while in the sauna area, the slate series provides a contrast to the wooden beams, creating a sense of calm and coziness. Fresh Mosaics provide a contrast with their aqua-glossy color gradient. The Wiesbaden coping system and Chroma tiles are the safe choice for the pool.
