Reader's choice of the trade publication FLIESEN & PLATTEN

Tile collection KIANO is product of the year

The German trade magazine Fliesen & Platten has been calling on its readers to choose the products of the year since 2011. Just like in the past, Agrob Buchtal participated in the latest election. With the victory of the Kiano series in the tile category, the brand impressively continued its previous success*.

The result is based on the vote of the readers of Fliesen & Platten, who had to identify themselves with a subscription number and could only give one vote per subscription per category. These consistent rules make the award remarkable in that it is not a small jury that decides, but professionals who work with the product on a daily basis. Another special feature is the timing: In order to allow market response and concrete experiences to flow in, the selection date is always at the end of the year of the product launch or update. In the first quarter of the following year, the results are then announced and the prizes awarded. In accordance with this chronology, the "Products of the Year 2019" were honoured at the end of February 2020 at a ceremony held at the Maternushaus in Cologne, where the first three places in a total of six categories (tiles, tile adhesive/mortar, software, substrates/sealants, tools, accessories) were awarded. The Fliesen & Platten Forum, as an established meeting place for the sector, provided the appropriate setting. In the tile category, the victory went to the "Kiano" series by Agrob Buchtal ahead of "Fundo Top" by Wedi and "Surround" by Gepadi (a brand of Ströher GmbH). The brief description in the entry forms reflects the most important characteristics of the winning collection:

Inspired by the diversity of the black continent, KIANO comprises calm and lively components: Floor tiles (30x60 and 60x60 cm) with a striking broken edge capture the magic of Africa in four earthy colours in an archaic way. The wall tiles (30x60 and 35x100 cm) in sandy white matt form the discreet frame for decorative components such as CHESS (10x10 cm on 30x30 cm sheet): as if fingers had drawn in clay, this stick mosaic sets delightful accents, whether at specific points as a one-, two- or three-row eye-catcher or joined together as a graphic decorative element.

KIANO in a variation that literally evokes the "black continent" Africa: The effect of the floor tiles in the representative format 60 x 60 centimetres is skilfully underlined by the colour carbon black.

The rod mosaic Chess (right of the sink) looks originally handcrafted as if fingers had drawn in clay. The possible applications are extremely varied: floor or wall, vertical or horizontal, single or multiple rows, flat or linear.

The floor tiles of Kiano in the nuances of the savannah spread African-inspired flair. The archaic broken edge of the floor tiles harmonizes perfectly with the original Chess rod mosaic: here on the floor as inlays, which give the surface a stylish rhythm
