The main fire station in Regensburg impressively demonstrates that functional buildings can also be realised with high architectural quality. Here, a particular strength of AGROB BUCHTAL came into play: The comprehensive range includes numerous ceramic solutions for interior and exterior use - a benefit that enables holistic concepts.
The main fire station forms a large inner-city building ensemble. A core element is the block visible from Greflingerstraße, which consists of three connected buildings that house, among other things, emergency vehicles and functional rooms. The right-hand section will remain, the middle section is to be extensively renovated in the next few years, the left-hand section consists of a new building which was put into operation in autumn 2019 and amazes both inside and out with its high design quality.
For the façade of this new building the architects chose the AGROB BUCHTAL system Keratwin with a colour gradient of finely tuned shades, which were specially designed and individually manufactured for this project. This graded colour canon structures the functionally quite powerful building and makes it appear filigree and noble. The gentle rhythm of the façade is to be continued in a coming construction phase with the above-mentioned renovation of the middle section, so that a coherent structure emerges, which captivates through homogeneity and materiality.
The high standard is continued inside in sanitary and shower rooms, changing rooms, corridors, canteen kitchens and dirt traps. Here, too, ceramic tiles from AGROB BUCHTAL act as an architectural link and identity-forming elements: vital color accents in yellow and red enter into an exciting dialogue with neutralising white and anthracite shades. All ceramic surfaces in the exterior and interior areas also feature the photocatalytic HYTECT surface.
On the façade, it has a self-cleaning effect and avoids costly cleaning of the building shell. In the interior, it not only makes cleaning easier, but also actively combats bacteria and ensures an improved indoor climate. The result is premises and traffic areas that combine functionality and aesthetics.
