CERSAIE 2019: homage to authentic ceramics

Karl by Agrob Buchtal: Fascinating mosaic collection with ceramic charm

A very special mosaic collection from Agrob Buchtal is the new series Karl. It is a homage to the love of ceramic tiles. It was designed by the in-house ceramic engineer Karl Weber, who, thanks to more than 40 years of experience, has succeeded in creating a fascinating interplay of different nuances, handcrafted look and special haptics. The new collection including a glossy glazed and a matt unglazed version will be launched on the market at the beginning of 2020 and will be available throughout the country in the first quarter.

Karl Weber is a ceramic engineer at Deutsche Steinzeug AG, which includes the established tile brands Agrob Buchtal and Jasba. Ceramic tiles and the effect of different glazes and textures have been his passion for over 40 years. Depending on the type of glaze application or raw material recipe (in the case of unglazed surfaces) and the subsequent play of the fire during firing, results different in details are produced again and again. These unique pieces and "soloists" then unite in the surface to form a harmonious, lively orchestra. It is exactly this touch of archaic unpredictability which has characterized the charm and fascination of ceramic (tiles) until today. The result of the many years of experience of the expert Karl is the new collection of the same name, which creatively interprets the described charm of authentic ceramics and is offered in the form of two mosaic formats and five colours (as mentioned above, each glazed and unglazed).

Subtle materiality
With its handcrafted character and glossy glaze combinations or stone-matt unglazed surfaces, the Karl series meets the need for reflection, originality and authenticity. At the same time, its variability and ease of combination enable individual arrangements in different areas of application. Karl uses the expressive 10x10 centimetre mosaic format in the unglazed version (slip resistance: R10/B) to design walls and floors in many public areas. Typical examples for this are entrance areas and foyers, bars, restaurants, cafés, decorative walls, corridors, kitchen worktops and mirrors, seating niches and benches, shops and boutiques as well as hotel and private bathrooms. The glazed version is also predestined for wall designs of all kinds; on the floor, it should only be used in private rooms subject to little wear and tear.

For the effective staging of selected areas, Agrob Buchtal also offers a 2x2 centimetre mosaic, which can of course also be used for larger surfaces. A particular design advantage is that this filigree format nestles like a tailor-made ceramic dress to columns, curves, counters and other organically shaped structures. Together with the special play of colours, this represents the pinnacle of individuality: quite self-confident, but without superficial bling bling effects, but with a thoroughly honest character and unobtrusive noblesse.

The collection is made of high-quality porcelain stoneware and is available in the colours black, indigo, nude, terra and white. Depending on personal preference and architectural intention, the glossy glazed or the stone matt unglazed version is available. The mosaic tiles are supllied on 30x30 centimetre sheets for easy laying. Agrob Buchtal recommends the Stories series (also a 2020 novelty, see separate press release) as complement on the floor and the the wall.

The new Agrob Buchtal series Karl enables living spaces and room concepts with authentic naturalness, which convey familiarity and security - aspects that are all the more valuable in an increasingly hectic and fast-moving world.

Additional benefit: Hytect
Just as many series of Agrob Buchtal, Karl (both glazed and unglazed) is already prvieded with the Hytect coating ex works. This innovative solution is based on the effect of light and gives ceramic tiles revolutionary properties: they are extremely easy to clean, have an antibacterial effect without using chemical prtoducts and eliminate unwelcome odours and air pollutants. Hytect thus saves time and money and protects the environment by significantly reducing the use of cleaning agents and disinfectants.

Motif 1

This detail photo conveys the entire ceramic charm of the series Karl: expressive soloists unite to form a harmonious orchestra, which is fascinating by lively authenticity.

Motif 2

This illustration proves two facts: the series Karl with its look full of character also harmonizes with modern interior design, and already a relatively small surface is sufficient to have a significant effect on the entire room ambience.
