The trend towards large tile formats continues. And for good reason: tiles in XXL format are an expression of a modern and timeless living style. They are often featured in representative areas such as open-plan kitchen and living rooms.
Rectified edges permit an elegant, slim joint which, when combined with large formats, generates a particularly expansive and homogenous effect.
In everyday applications, tiles with edge lengths of up to 120 cm are currently of relevance. For example: formats such as 60 x 120 cm, 75 x75 cm or 100 x 100 cm as they can be realised with justifiable financial and technical effort.
But large formats can also be used effectively in small areas. The old rule of thumb of “small rooms, small formats – large rooms, large formats” is meanwhile obsolete: large formats lend smaller rooms and areas such as guest WCs, cloakroom niches, corridors or stair landings in particular a degree of relaxed clarity. This effect can be achieved in an especially charming manner by laying large formats seamlessly across rooms.
An additional advantage of large formats is the fact that they can also be eminently combined with smaller formats to create exciting designs.
However, such large-format products also demand adequate planning and processing. The demands on a harmonious partition of the respective area or flatness of the substrate are higher than for small formats. For this reason, it is absolutely recommended that professional planners and prudent craftsmen are involved in order to utilise their experience and competence in achieving impressive results.
