These days we received these pictures of a construction project in the Utrecht district Leidsche Rijn, reported by our colleague on site: "I was at the construction site of the new school building Akademie Tien in Utrecht today. The Chroma and Craft façade took some effort, but thanks to the team spirit of everyone who played a role here, it succeeded. On days like this, you feel proud to work at Agrob Buchtal!"
Daringly creative
Learning with courage is the motto and concept of the new school building in Utrecht, whose opening this September is eagerly awaited by 180 students. The design of the new school building is entirely in line with Academie Tien's innovative pedagogical concept. And because learning here is supposed to begin with wonder, it was natural for the designers Wiersema Architects &; de Architecten CIE to give the five-story architecture, completely wrapped in ceramic tiles of various colors, sizes and reliefs, iconic character with its extraordinary facades. Clad in this lively ceramic mosaic, in which the structure of base, central part and slab is recognizable according to the "image quality plan of Supervisor Jo Coenen", the building presents itself - in the spirit of its future students:inside - contemporary and self-confident in its environment.
How do you give a growing city a place for a school building, a gymnasium and a public square in an intelligent and sustainable way? This "beating heart", in which students can come together in the future to learn, meet and chill out, shows how it can be done.
