A New Approach to Facades
The renovation of the Coop shopping center in Aigle demonstrates how ceramic facades can give existing buildings a contemporaryß identity. A total of 475 m² of AGROB BUCHTAL’s KeraShape facade series was used on the south and east facades. The unglazed ceramic elements, measuring 60 x 60 x 1,800 mm, reflect the natural color palette of the rural surroundings with their shades of ö salmon, salmon red, and reddish brown, the natural color palette of the rural surroundings and help the building blend harmoniously into its context. At the same time, the slender, vertical facade elements lend the architecture an elegant rhythm and create a dynamic interplay of light, shadow, and texture. The result is a building envelope that impresses not only with its warm materiality but also with its durability, lending the modernized shopping center a distinctive architectural character since its completion in 2024.
